Remote Access: Technical Information

1: For file access via any web browser:

1. Server software: NetManager FileSurfer.
2. Server hardware: IBM Servers and look at the IBM x3250M4.
3. SSL Certificate: Two-year SSL123 Certificate.
4. Services and Support for the installation, configuring and on-going support.

2: For access to applications, including your MIS, you will need:

1. Citrix XenApp per concurrent connection or a Citrix XenDesktop licence per user, device or concurrent connection.
2. Server hardware powerful enough to run applications, we suggest the IBM x3550M4 Servers.
3. Microsoft Licensing for the Server Enterprise Licence and Remote Desktop Client Access Licences.
4. Services and Support for the installation, configuring and on-going support.

3: To have a Follow-Me anywhere desktop using Citrix XenDesktop, you will need:

1. Citrix XenDesktop licence per user or per concurrent connection. You may want to consider the Citrix XenDesktop Campus Agreement if you plan to deploy at a whole-school level.
2. Server hardware powerful enough to run applications, we suggest the IBM x3550M4 Servers.
3. Microsoft Licensing for the Server Licences.
4. Microsoft Licensing supporting VDA (e.g. EES or Software Assurance) to cover virtual desktops.
5. Services and Support for the installation, configuring and on-going support.

4: To give Technicians access to your servers from outside of school, you will need:

An IP-enabled Adder KVM complete with CAMs to connect each server and job done!
