Central configuration
By default, ThinIT will attempt to retrieve its settings file /thinit/settings/global
with TFTP from the IP address of the DHCP server. If you do not have a TFTP server running on that address, there will be a delay before it times out. With NetManager this will work out of the box as TFTP and the webserver Apache are running by default. If you are not using NetManager, you should define your ThinIT configuration path with DHCP option 151. You can set the path to be a http:// URL. Details on using Windows DHCP and IIS can be found here:
- ThinIT configuration with Windows DHCP
- Providing a ThinIT configuration file with Internet Information Services (IIS)
If you do not have any method of providing a central configuration, you can disable any attempt to fetch one by following these instructions.
