Making calls
Important
- You do NOT need to dial 9 for an outside line, just dial the number
- Your extension is likely to have a call class set on it which will restrict you from making international or premium-rate phone calls. It may be more or less restrictive (e.g. internal phone calls only)
Note that on VoIP phones, the phone will only send what you have dialed to the phone system when:
- You press the Dial or Send button (think of this like pressing Return or clicking Submit)
- A few seconds have passed (by default 5) so it is certain you have finished dialling
On-hook dialing
You can make on-hook calls by dialing the number, then pressing Dial or Send (or waiting). This will use the speaker on the phone. You can switch to the handset at any time by just picking it up. To hang-up when using the speaker, press End.
Handset dialing
Pick up the handset and you will hear the dialing tone. You can then dial the number and press Dial or Send (or wait). To hang-up, just put the handset down.
