Optimising Virtual Desktops

When install the XenDesktop Virtual Desktop Agent (VDA), it will alter certain settings to optimise performance (this is very similar to the Optimise feature provided by Provisioning Services).

The list of settings altered and the respective registry keys can be found on the Citrix Knowledge Base.

For example, Windows Search is disabled, to re-enable this alter the following registry setting:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WSearch]
"Start"=dword:00000002

An alternative is to install the VDA from the command line and skipping the /optimize flag:
